At HMRHEAD, we believe that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. As part of our F1 in Schools journey, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and setting an example for future engineering projects. This page is how we are making our pit display and operations more eco-friendly:
We took plastic bags and transformed it into something purposeful! By melting down and reshaping plastic bags using the school's sheet press machine, we created a custom-made table for our pit display. This project not only reduces plastic waste but also showcases the potential of upcycling in engineering and design.
To eliminate carbon emissions from our pit display, we invested in a portable battery and solar panel. This allows us to power our screens, lighting, and other electronics using clean, renewable energy instead of relying on mains electricity or disposable batteries.
We have also maximised the use of recycled materials in our pit display to minimise its environmental impact by reusing materials from old A-level/GCSE DT projects as well as old F1 in School pit displays.
Our approach to sustainability is about continuous improvement. Whether it’s using eco-friendly materials, reducing waste, or finding new ways to make our operations greener, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainability in F1 in Schools.
